Obesity has become a global epidemic. With 1 in 3 of the world’s population being overweight and 13% being obese, it is now the fifth leading risk for global deaths.
Around 50% of adults are trying to lose weight at any given time, fuelling the rapid growth of the global weight management market to a multibillion-dollar industry.
Unfortunately, 95% of diet fads either fail or deliver
unsustainable results because most diets are:
·
complicated, restrictive and add complexity to
the dieter’s lifestyle
·
expensive and promote exotic ingredients that
are not readily available or easily accessible
·
impose meals or cuisines that the dieter is
unfamiliar with or does not particularly enjoy
·
offer a one size fits all approach and sets
unrealistic expectations
The solution to overweight and obesity is therefore not another diet fad.

ReplyDeleteWhen you also consider that 11% of world population is in famine at any given time, the true figure for world obesity is being masked and is clearly higher than we are told.
So how do we address the following issues?
- Our relationship with natural and healthy food continues to diminish.
- Eating on the go or from ready prepared and convenience formats grows annually.
- Eating as a family unit is more challenged due to other lifestyle commitments and leads to poor meal choices and little meal supervision.
- Children are not educated about the benefits or enjoyment from eating healthy food. They are detached from the food chain and see healthy eating options as less fulfilling.
- Food labelling continues to be controlled by those making and marketing food and allows for poor and uninformed choices to be made by consumers.
We all know that our relationship with food has to change.
A decent, easy to follow, practical book that cuts to the chase, educates and creates a long term healthy relationship with food - written by someone who has made her own successful journey on this very path can only be a good investment.
Knowing Felicia's analytical and methodical approach I would reason that anyone with the determination to follow in her footsteps will achieve similar results to hers and I look forward to reading and implementing some of her proven strategies and suggestions.
